Tagged again!

October 20, 2007

Felicity has tagged me – now I have to tell 7 random things about myself. I’m also supposed to pass it on to 7 other bloggers.

First, hmm seven random things :

1. I come from a family of eight children (you guessed it – Irish Catholic!)

2. I love the Sopranos – partly because I think it’s superbly written and acted, and partly because I grew up in New Jersey and it actually reminds me of home. I’ve been watching it on dvd and am up to season 5. When I went to visit my Mom this summer, a taxi driver showed us where they filmed the last episode.

3. Although we live in France (my husband is French) I keep shipping my children over to Ireland for their higher education. The youngest one just told me he thinks he wants to go too. For now, the French education system (after the bac) is just a bit too elitist and theoretical for us!

4. I live in the town where Leonardo da Vinci died.

5. My favorite cheese is called Langres and is from the town of that name. If you like French cheeses, you must try it sometime in your life.

6.My favorite movies are The Haunting (the old one from the 1960’s, not the terrrible remake), Gosford Park and Rebecca (the Hitchcock version). Oh, and everything by Pedro Almodovar.

7. I’ve read everything by Sybille Bedford, and I think you should too.

Here are some people whose blogs I like, whom I’ve heard from lately, who may not have been tagged before;

Meinhild, Rah Kyndl, Sharon, Marie-Dom, Nancy, Sandy, Andrea.

I hope none of them mind – they don’t need to play if they don’t feel like it.

just stopping to say hello. These are all wonderful sketches Casey! I just today got the chance to use free internet! Met up with Robyn today and the only thing missing was you and Ronell. We had the best visit ever and never got around to sketching. So cold here in Florence….I am wearing all my clothes in layers! Can’t wait for our get together!

I must come from an unusally small Irish Catholic family – only three of us, but I did have a friend who was the eldest of thirteen! I got sent over to Ireland too but my brothers escaped! 😉 I’ll keep a look out for that cheese. Thanks for playing Casey!

Wow Casey! I was so busy this week, I haven’t been able to keep up on reading my regular blogs. What a treat this morning to see your many wonderful posts.]
Thanks so much for recommending films and books. I’m always on the prowl for good ones. Can’t wait to read Bedford and see Almodovar.,
I expecially love the hardware piece and the cats. It is amazing that you got such great forms on such wiggliy creatures.

Hi Casey! I’ve just been browsing through your blog after a long time away from such things. I love looking at your drawings. Your two paintings of your husband are really nice, I like the glass and metal examples, and your kitty is wonderful. You always have such rich color selection. Good to see your work again! Thanks for visiting my blog again too! Take care. Mary

It’s great fun to find out these things about you! I did LOVE the Sybille Bedford book Pleasures and Landscapes. Thank you so much for the recommendation. Have you seen Alain Resnais’ ‘Providence?’ I’d love to see it again, but it isn’t readily available in the US.

Thanks for the Sybille Bedford tip. I’m not familiar with her work, but enjoy memoirs and travel writing, so I will definitely check her books out from the library. Things are quite hectic with my business right now, but I will post those seven random facts later…The black and blue cat paintings are wonderful!

Your drawings are all wonderful too! My favorite is the watercolor of Mittens you posted on October 6th! A real charmer! Warmly, Robin

I want to try that cheese you mentioned. My husband has worked for the past 5 years for the US division of a French cheese company (Bon Graine) here in Pennsylvania. We’ve been sampling cheeses I’ve never heard of before! I’ve developed a real love of montrachaite (sp?)–the goat cheeses. It’s supposed to be rather healthy for you too.

I love your cat paintings–quick sketches are so intriging ! Nice texture on the hardware too.

I also adore The Haunting as a movie, but not so much as the Shirley Jackson novel upon which it is based (The Haunting of Hill House). Thank you for reminding me of it. Also, I wanted to express my admiration for your watercolor sketches. That one of the rusty hinge is lucious.
