Sketches from Brittany

September 1, 2008

I’ve finally gotten around to scanning these.  I’m still missing a sketchbook, which I’ve misplaced, but it will eventually turn up.

This first one was actually done last year, but I had never posted it before.  This is a view of one of the criques around the Crozon Peninsula – the water is really turquoise like that.

From my tiny sketchbook, a few hastily scribbled sketches – thanks to waterbrushes I generally had time to color them in situ.

and a couple of pencil sketches –

some Celtic musicians who took themselves very seriously, and a house up the hill from where we were staying.

Tomorrow I’ll try to catch up on Provence sketches!

Love the 5th one down and the pencil sketches. The others just make me long for the water. And you’re right – some celtic musicians can take themselves QUITE seriously!

You do such a great job of communicating with such minimal lines and brush strokes. I love these, Casey–wonderful little snippets of time…

Gorgeous sketches! loved your comment about the Celtic musicians who took themselves so seriously! My favorite is the one at the top–I’m a sucker for turquoise water!

of course my favorite is the paddlers! I have so enjoyed being out in the water this summer. I hope to get in a few more paddles before winter arrives! You have such a lovely palette which enhances your wonderful sketches. I’m ready to dive back into art this month!

Like the others, I am in awe of the minimal lines
and washes and blending that you do. You got
so much done with those little waterbrushes.
