Brittany
August 3, 2008
We’re back from Brittany – home for one day to do laundry and re-pack for our week in Provence.I’m having some scanner trouble – and just general computer trouble, but I was able to scan a few of my sketches. These are very quick ones, done in situ. I have quite a few, but I just can’t get my scanner to do more than this today.

From the looks of these, you really could have been fishing! 😉
Just lovely–beautiful house with green shutters–that just might be my favorite.
That coast looks so pretty and I love the way you have captured it, Casey. The messing around in boats sketch is charming, as are your cottages.
Enjoy what appears to be an ongoing, blissful summer holiday.
Hey, you jetsetter, you, don’t forget to save up your energy for your trip here next month ;D. I’m glad you got these sketches scanned, at least—they’re vintage Casey, so colorful and fluid.
Beautiful, Casey. As Laura said, they’re vintage Casey. You’re so good at capturing a moment in these deceptively simple sketches. Great color, as always.
These are just beautiful sketches. Your loose style and wonderful colors are so lovely.
lovely sketches full of atmosphere :>)
I look forward to seeing the rest
Brittany, Provence … sigh.
The apparently effortless capturing of moment and movement … These are WONDERFUL quickies, Casey!
Thanks for the scenes from Brittany. I’m envious of your trip to Provence… the lavender must be coming in to full bloom. I’ll have to imagine. Lovely sketches, as always, and beautifully illuminated.
They are all so wonderfully free and full of life!
ah, the sailboats out on the water. Perhaps my favorite since I spent Saturday out on the water also. Lovely sketches!
Have a wonderful holiday!
These are beautiful…love the old stone houses.
If I had to pick a favorite it would be the rooftop gable but I love them all. They are so free.
My favorite is the green shutters, but I love the sandy scenes too. Looks like a wonderful place to be! Bill is right, you capture a moment beautifully and so quickly too.
Lovely, looks like a grand time. I really like the look of the smudged pen lines from the watercolor. I’ll have to try a non waterproof pen.
Been looking thru your blog–what lovely paintings! Loose, bold, colorful! Wonderful! 🙂
Time for you to take a breath… lovely sketches. I like the roof top best if I had to choose.
Wow, such lovely sketches capturing your travels. I love the colors and your loose style.
excellent. love the top two. just excellent.
I’m liking them all. I would love to go to Brittany. I am pretty sure some old ancient ancestor wandered around there.
Fabulous stuff…. just stunning… darn computer/scanner… I want to see MORE!!!
I love Bretagne and I miss it. 2 years ago I’ve been there about a month.
I love your colours.
Well thankfully you have given us a snippet of such wonderfulness – Fabulous fluid sketches as always!! have fun in Provence and we will await even more sketches.
When I lived in Jersey, we used to go to St Malo for the day on the hydroglisseur. The house/roof you have drawn reminds me of rooflines I used to see then.
