In Paris with Laura

March 21, 2008

I spent a wonderful five days with Laura (of Laurelines) in Paris this week. She was finishing her amazing series of Paris fountains, and I tagged along and did some too. I’ll post them tomorrow, but for now, here are some sketches done while we were enjoying some wonderful meals together, along with along with Ronell of African Tapestry, my daughter Claire and Tara Bradford of Paris Parfait, with whom we had some great political discussions. If you’re the least bit interested in Paris, or in politics for that matter, pop over to her blog – you’ll love it.We also had a cup of tea and some macarons with the lovely “florizelle” of Le Divin Fumoir Bohémien at Ladurée, but unfortunately I didn’t even get my sketchbook out – I’ll have to go back to draw there another day.

So here is Laura, drawing a smaller fountain on a freezing cold morning, calmly getting on with things in her elegant way, despite the glacial winds whirling around us.

And here a few random restaurant sketches :

I’ll be back soon with those fountain sketches!

Come on, Casey I’m sure that’s only a fraction of the story!!;) Lucky, lucky girls.

I love your restaurant sketches, particularly that last one with the beautiful green woodwork. It’s about the same colour I am at the moment, except more beautiful!

I had SUCH a wonderful time with you and Claire and Tara and Florizelle—it was one of those truly memorable weeks. Thank you so much for sharing it with me.
