Le Chateau de Pintray
September 16, 2007
Yesterday a local bicycle club organized an outing to visit a château and some manoirs in the neighborhood which aren’t usually open to the public. I didn’t have much time for drawing (still haven’t mastered the art of sketching while pedaling) but while the others in the group had a glass of wine at this beautiful bed and breakfast called the Chateau de Pintray, I quickly did this watercolor sketch – which I touched up a bit later at home. I got a few photos too, and I’ll try to do a few more sketches this week….

Casey,
Gorgeous! You managed to capture the essence of the chateau in such a beautiful loose style – and the variety of wall colors is extraordinary.

What?! You can’t sketch and pedal at the same time? You? Get busy and learn to do so!
The chateau is beautiful. I always admire the way you handle colors.
Beautiful, Casey. That umbrella looks too hot to touch. I know what you mean about biking and sketching. I was on a bike trip this spring and wanted to stop every few minutes to sketch. Cyclists just don’t get it!
stunning, vibrant, love it!
I must have missed this blog along the lines. Your work is so inspiring and beautiful. I love all the different mediums you are so skilled with.
This is so wonderful, Casey! That red umbrella really adds to the charm of it!
Une aquarelle tres beau! What, you can’t pedal and sketch at the same time? But what a different view of the world when you are on 2 wheels! This composition is wonderful as well. The umbrella could be a problem but it is just off to the side enough that it is an enhancement to the overall picture. Did you do this with a glass of vin dans le main?
Sounds like a gorgeous way to spend an afternoon, Casey. Very pretty sketch, which will be around long after those glasses of wine are forgotten.
Glad you hade time for this. Great watercolour!
I really enjoyed looking at your blog. You captured the flavor of so many places…. – Barbara
It looks so lovely and interesting. Kudos to you for doing this while others drank wine!! You should have dipped your brush in their wine and painted 🙂
