The EDM challenge this week is to draw people doing something. for the first time ever, my daughter Claire has done a challenge (does that save the family honor -I’m at least 4 behind!)

See if you can guess what it is they’re doing :

(hint: they’re not baking cookies)

    Casey,
Tell Claire this is an awesome sketch! Did she keep a sketchbook on her semester abroad? Is so she needs to share it with us – and see the book “A Year in Japan.” I recognize the spigots on the counter from my chem lab days. Looks like two professors in long white lab coats and several students in lab aprons. Can’t even imagine what the little square things are in the tray. Hope you’ll post an answer….

I agree with Shirely , Are they contaminating petri dishes 😉 Nice work and quite intriguing! Obviously the talent runs in the family (as does the good looks judging from your charming son)

Wow, Claire! Great sketch – yes, please, I too would like to see your sketchbook. Yes Mum, talent runs in the family. I’m not sure I want to know what’s in those little dishes!

Hi Casey. Excellent posts – yours AND your daughter’s. (P.S. You said your comments weren’t showing up on my blog, but I’ve gotten two in the last two days. Were there more?)

Thanks guys, Claire really appreciates your kind comments. OK – it’s an autopsy, and those are slices of brain. She brought back a dvd from China, thinking it was some kind of police drama, and it turned out to be a documentary about autopsies – so she drew a still. Creepy, huh?
Unfortunately, her sketchbook from Hong Kong is mostly ideas for products she plans to design – that’s her main center of interest. I think she should do more regular sketching, though….

Great sketch Claire..yes, that is really creepy! I imagine he’s pointing and saying: “Now this brain is still brand new, not used at all!”

Simply fabulous Claire! Casey – I agree – she should do more. Lovely flowers from you by the way. I’m so envious of your ability to capture the complete essence of things with such beautifully loose and flowing lines.

What a great sketch. The talent certainly does run in the family. And I was right there with Sandy thinking it was petri dishes. Brain never entered my mind! lol!
