An afternoon at Ronell’s

April 18, 2007

I inadvertently erased this post.  Check out what Ronell has done with the same set up on her blog African Tapestry (see blogroll)

But I love it!! It is so loose and cozy looking. What fun to have a painty friend.

I can see what he means too and since I’m such an admirer of your usual style, I sort of agree…BUT… I still like this! It is different and interesting and the hat is just gorgeous to me! And I think it is so good to do something out of what you ususally do, it keeps us from getting in a rut, challenges us a bit, no? I would actually like to see how you would do this “your style”? Why don’t you do another one that way and post it? Looking forward to seeing your “painting…before Monday, right!

another rendered beautifully but I agree with your hubby and Ronelle. But I would buy a greeting card with it on the cover!!!! I just love your figure sketches!

Maybe not your usual style, but it still looks good to me. I like the negative painting of the chair, for example. And I agree with Ronell…it’s good to try different things sometimes.

I love the interplay of the shapes of the hat and chair!

Casey, Tell your husband that his job is to shower you with unending praise and adoration….just like mine does (NOT!) I think its’s charming but whats so great is you and Ronnell had fun!

It may not be in your normal style, but it’s a lovely watercolour none-the-less. I like the hat and the foliage. By trying something new, you find new techniques that will fit into your ‘normal style’, otherwise your style will become stale in time. Good for you and Ronell for trying something different!

Thank you everybody. It’s good to try something new-I’m going to have to start puxhing myself a little more. Sandy, and anyone else- we’d love to have you join us on our weekly paintings (see above post for details).

Hmm.. I REALLY like this, whether it is your normal style (which I LOVE) or not. I think the darks and neutrals make the bright flower on that hat just pop, and it is really well placed. They painting leads you there, whether you want to be there or not, and isn’t that kind of the point?
