The Norman Coast – Part 2
June 30, 2009 at 8:01 am | In sketches, watercolor | 13 CommentsSome more sketches done this weekend – random people on the beach (you’ll notice they are all dressed – even on the warmest days in Normandy there’s a little chill), and some sketches of the cliffs in Yport – which were disappearing in the fog as I drew them, but then , when I looked up 5 minutes later, were perfectly visible again. Ah, Normandy…..
First, the cliffs ;
and some people sketches :

Hi Casey, Hope your ankle is doing better. Your drawings are wonderful. I particularly like the expression and character you achieve in the drawings of people and figures. Inspiring!

Wonderful sketches. I was out at our coast a couple of times in the past few days (Pacific Ocean, Southern California)–but no sketching time.

I know well this part of France and I can see the spirit of Normandy. Great!

Casey, your colors in the cliff sketches here are stunning. I really love the looseness of your watercolors–and the figures on the beach are wonderful. It sounds like a beautiful area–I have never been there. Thanks for letting me be an armchair traveler here!

The colors are so beautiful and vibrant, especially on the cliffs. I hope your ankle is on the mend. I’m sending good healing thoughts your way.

Wonderful sketches! I especially like the bottom one with such great body language. So sorry to hear about your awful sprained ankle. What a drag! Your trip sounds really nice despite the ankle (or did I get the order wrong?). SOmetimes it’s confusing reading blogs backwards to catch up.

De l’avis d’Izys, de plus, j’aime l’attitude de tes personnages…

Yes, yes, yes to all the nice comments above—and I’m one of the few who knows how even MUCH better your sketches look in person! I look forward to our sketching together in Brittany! (I’ll bring sweaters.)

Moi, ce sont vraiment les croquis de personnages qui me font rêver. Le premier, surtout, même de dos, on devine que les personnes laissent leurs pensées se balader. Et quelle maîtrise du trait ! J’adore ça !
